MXP Top 20 – #12 Brock Hoyer

Brock Hoyer has fast become one of Canada’s very best indoor riders.

Brock Hoyer has been working the Canadian Nationals for many years, but life as a racer started quiet. His Uncle Galvin Hoyer introduced Brock to racing. From his first event in 2000 at the Quesnel, BC track Hoyer was hooked as a racer.

Four years after that first race, Hoyer lined up, qualified and scored a 25th at his first MX2 National in Mission and Nanaimo. In 2005, Hoyer focused on graduating from high school, missed the outdoor nationals but returned to racing in time for arenacross and a World Supercross round. Hoyer showed that with time he would become an elite Pro in this country by qualifying for the Vancouver Supercross Lites main event.

What brought Hoyer to the MXP Ranking list of Canada’s top twenty Pros is his speed today. Hoyer is one of the few riders that, with a start, can run with anyone in the country. Speed is the hardest thing to learn or to teach, but for Hoyer it comes naturally. He can elevate his riding to match most riders in Canada. In his four appearances in 2012, he earned two top 10 overall finishes. His ability to elevate his speed is mirrored by an inability to cut through slower riders, which often leaves him moving forward but never fully achieving his full potential with results when racing outdoors.

BROCK

Indoors is where Hoyer really shines. The barns of BC have a long tradition of great arenacross races, and Hoyer has become a dominating force in the series. The 2011-12 Champion bounced back and fought Spencer Knowles to the finish in 2012-13 series to back up the championship with a strong 2nd place overall. There are very few who can compete with Hoyer in the tight
confines of arenacross in Canada.

In 2013, Hoyer will be Yamaha mounted on a local program he has built with his wife Jenny. Faithful supporters Spectra Powersports and RMR will be backing Hoyer across Canada in 2013 aboard a Yamaha 450. With a solid program around him and undeniable speed, Brock Hoyer has everything it takes to earn a top 10 national number at series end. The naturally talented Arenacross Champion is this week’s #12 on the MXP Ranking of top Canadians lining up in 2013.
