The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Matrix Concepts Canada

The Amateur racing all week at the 2023 ECAN was superb! Photo by James Lissimore

MXP: We spent six days at the MX Deschambault track in Quebec last week. What is it about the ECAN that keeps bringing you and your family back from BC each year?

RL: There are a few reasons. I think the biggest reason is that, as an industry, it’s important to support these events. The three “CAN’S” are the biggest races in Canada each year, and I want to see them succeed. The track at Dechambault is also awesome and helps offset the 50-hour drive (laughs).

MXP: We saw the return of Jacob Piccolo last weekend at Round 7. What are your thoughts on his first race back?

RL: There is no question that Jake’s injury took way longer than any of us had hoped. He has only been on the bike for just over two weeks, so the progress has been slow. Every time he got on the track last weekend, there were signs of the old Jake, so that was promising. The results were not what we wanted, but he did ride with heart, so that is something that we liked as a team. We have positive thoughts and high hopes to see him on the podium next weekend at Walton.

MXP: Alright, the biggest race of the year is coming up next week. Are you ready for the 2023 Walton TransCan?

RL: Yes, I’m ready and looking forward to it!! I will be eating lots of roost in Plus 25 class, but as always, I’m looking forward to the challenge. This is the event that we look forward to all season long, and I hope everyone has a safe and successful week at Walton Raceway.
