For some reason, I can’t help but think of the infamous Chuck Mesley when I see #9 on a MX bike. Bring back the Mez!

The Kamloops pits

After a good rain today, the track should be tight, tight, tight tomorrow.

Defending Western Women’s champ Hailey Larson stole the show in Round 1 this year, winning both motos and taking the early points lead. A US native, Larson plans to stick around well past the Western Nationals and travel east for those events as well. “I’m hoping it’s going to be the best summer of life!” No surprise there, Canada is a land of good times.

Canada has some quick women racers right now, and Rachel Springman is one of them. She and Turner could give Larson a fit, with a good start and a smooth race. You’ve got the skills, girls!

Lethbridge KTM’s Shelby Turner rode hard in the Women’s class. In the second moto, early in the first lap, Turner dropped the hammer on her 250 two-stroke and made a pass stick on Larson. Sadly, the Albertan dropped it shortly thereafter, when she blew through a berm. Regardless, Turner still held on for a solid 3rd overall.

Moto Park’s Iain Hayden is here helping out his OTSFF Yamaha family. He also decided to sneak in some racing of his own, taking wins in the Vet Master class and runner ups to Ryan Lockhart in Plus 25.

Newf! The legend himself was having fun riding amateur day, taking names and moto wins. Word has it he’s racing Calgary…..
