Pourcel goes 4-1 for second overall in the MX1 class
On yet another very challenging track, the Rockstar Energy athlete proved that he is one of the toughest competitors on the planet. After earning the pole position in timed practice, Pourcel carried that momentum into the opening MX1 moto where he finished in a strong fourth place. In Moto 2, Pourcel came out swinging and took the early lead from hometown rider Kaven Benoit. From there, he rode hard for the remainder of the race to take his fourth moto win of the series.
Pourcel: “I felt much better this weekend and the track was pretty good. I didn’t get off to a great start in the first moto and I did my best to get to catch up. In Moto 2, I got a better start and got into the lead early. From there I tried to ride smooth and stay in front so I could take the moto win. We didn’t get the overall win, but we were able to pick up some points on Goerke for the MX1 points lead. Now it’s onto to Round 7 in Truro and hopefully we can have another good weekend.”
With four rounds now remaining in the 2017 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals, Pourcel has now moved to within eight points of the championship points lead in the MX1 class. Now the series keeps moving east to beautiful Nova Scotia where Pourcel and team will spend the week testing and taking in some of Canada’s famous eastern hospitality as they prepare for Round 7 in Truro, NS.
