MITCHELL HARRISON SECURES FIRST OVERALL VICTORY OF 2023 SEASON IN 250 PRO CLASS AT RIVERGLADE MX
Dylan Wright Extends Winning Streak with 17th Consecutive Overall Win in 450 Pro Class
BRIGDEN, ON (July 24, 2023) – The 2023 Triple Crown Series made its way to Moncton, NB for round six of racing at Riverglade MX. After the grueling track conditions at Sand Del Lee, the class 450 Pro points leaders Dylan Wright and 250 Pro point leader Ryder McNabb seemed unstoppable. Mitchell Harrison was able to shake things up and end McNabb’s overall winning streak while his teammate Tyler Medaglia charged hard for a pair of second place finishes in front of his local crowd.
450 PRO CLASS
450 Podium: Tyler Medaglia (2),Dylan Wright (1), Jess Pettis (3). James Lissimore Photography
In moto one, Andy Truyts was able to claim the Royal Distributing hole shot and his best start of the season with one of the most seasoned riders in the field, Tyler Medaglia close on his heels. Red Bull KTM Canada Factory rider Jess Pettis was a close third. A mistake by Truyts cost him the lead and Medaglia and Pettis moved into the first and second spots. The number one plate of Dylan Wright was not far behind them in third, and Shawn Maffenbeier in fourth.
Medaglia laid down some of the fastest laps times of the moto but was only able to put a two second lead over Pettis. Wright was able to make the pass on Pettis and began the chase for the lead. A small mistake by Medaglia allowed Wright to move into the lead on lap 8. Pettis rode in third, nine seconds back from Medaglia. With five minutes left in the  moto, Wright pulled a six second gap on the pack with Medaglia and Pettis rounding out the podium in moto one.
In moto two, Medaglia was able to get the jump with Pettis in a close second place position. In third, Dylan Wright had his sights set on the lead and put the pressure on Pettis early in the moto to move into the second place spot. He quickly began to reel in the leader, Tyler Medaglia.
Tyler Gibbs and Julien Benek rode within the top five with Shawn Maffenbeier and Daniel Elmore in tow. Wright made the pass for the lead on lap seven. Medaglia, now in second, had a 22 second gap on Pettis riding in third.
Julien Benek, a rookie in the 450 Pro class, found himself in a battle with veteran rider Shawn Maffenbeier for the fourth spot. A mistake by Benek allowed Maffenbeier by and he rode in fourth the remainder of the race. Behind him the rest of the pack settled into their paces as Elmore moved into fifth, Benek in sixth and Tyler Gibbs in seventh. The most exciting battle of the moto that continued up to the very last turn was between Andy Truyts and Parker Eales for the eighth spot. Truyts was able to hold off Eales who finished ninth and Michael Da Silva rounded out the top 10.
Dylan Wright (1-1): “I got a little bit better of a start in that (second) moto. I was able to tuck to the inside. I did not want to spin again so I was just a little bit hesitant on the line but that’s the way she goes. It’s something to work on. The track was pretty good. In that moto, it was like guys are bound to make mistakes so you just have to sit back and wait for them to make a mistake and then pounce. The roost was gnarly out there. I opted for no handgards again that moto. I was like ‘I’m gonna be a man out there today’ and then I got a mediocre start and I was like ‘oh boy.’ Overall, I think it was a good day. We made some steps forward with the motorcycle. We didn’t fall today and that’s always positive. We went 1-1 today, we can’t complain. The Honda Canada GDR Fox racing crew has been doing their homework and getting these moto wins. My mechanic Braedon, Procircuit and everybody on the team. It’s been a wild ride and we’ve got two more to go and we’re going to keep grinding. We’re going to keep our head down and focus, even into the off season. I’m just starting to feel like myself again after the injury throughout the winter. We’re going to keep the train going.”
Tyler Medaglia (2-2): “I felt like I could match Dylan’s (Wright) pace and I used a lot of energy in the first moto. I was pushing hard. We made huge gains on the bike and I got both hole shots so I know the bike is working really good. I think Deschambault is the best track on the circuit as far as racing goes. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s similar to Sand Del Lee and my bike was really good in the second moto of Sand Del Lee and with some good starts sorted, we’re ready. When you’re racing at this level, the most subtle changes can make a huge difference. Two millimeters of fork height and a couple clicks and it’s like the bike is almost unrideable, for us anyways but that’s just years and years of being picky and sorting through stuff but now we’re working on this new bike and like I said before, we had three years on the old chassis so it’s going to take me a little bit of time, especially because I’m old and set in my ways so it’s hard to change.”
Jess Pettis (3-3): “That track was a tough one. I got a pretty decent start that moto and just hung behind Tyler (Medaglia) and he had really good speed today. Yeah man,  I just wasn’t really feeling it today and I really struggled all around to find a good flow. I could have pushed a little bit harder maybe but I would have been on that edge of maybe putting it on the ground. All around Dylan (Wright) and Tyler (Medaglia) had better speed today and I have to settle with that one but I’m not satisfied and we’ll go back to work this week and I’ve got lots of room for improvement. I always love Deschambault. It’s like two hours from where I’m at in Quebec and it’s always a pleasure going there. I like Walton too, so let’s bring it.

250 PRO CLASS
250 Podium: Ryder McNabb (2), Mitchell Harrison (1), Josiah Natzke(3). James Lissimore Photography
It was the Walton Kawasaki Seven ride of Tanner Ward who grabbed the Royal Distributing hole shot in the first 250 Pro/Am moto of the day. Mitchell Harrison, who had a strong showing in practice, was a close second. The number one plate holder, Ryder McNabb found himself outside of the top 10, but running the same lap times as the leaders and quickly made passes to move into 7th by the end of the first lap. Josiah Natzke rode in third with Kaven Benoit in fourth.
By lap four, McNabb was chasing down his KTM teammate, Kaven Benoit, in an effort to move into the top five and eventually a podium position. After his best start of the season, Tanner Ward maintained a top three position until bike issues caused him to drop out of the race. Natzke began closing in on the leader and was able to pass Harrison on lap five to move into first.
McNabb moved into the third spot behind Harrison but would eventually make the pass for second with three laps to go. Natzke maintained the lead, with McNabb in second and Harrison still making a strong charge in third. Quinn Amyotte and Sebastien Racine rounded out the top five.
In moto two it was Ryder McNabb of the KTM Canada Red Bull team with the Royal Distributing Hole Shot who wasted no time moving into the lead with Harrison close behind. Quinn Amyotte and Tanner Ward rode in the top five.
With McNabb in the lead, Harrison kept him in sight and made the pass for the lead on lap five. Josiah Natzke started the moto in sixth and worked his way up to third by lap six. Harrison was able to put a twelve second gap on McNabb and rode all the way to the finish in first for his first overall win of the 2023 season. McNabb went 2-2 for the day with Natzke in third. Natzke’s moto one win gave him the advantage and second overall. Tanner Ward salvaged a fourth place finish in moto two, but finished 12th overall after a DNF in moto one. Quinn Amyotte and Sebastien Racine finished fifth and sixth in the moto, and both finished within the top five overall for the day.
Mitchell Harrison (4-1): “I didn’t get the start, I almost had it. We made a little change on the rear, we stiffened it up a little bit and it just hooked. I went kind of off the track and then got back on and I just charged. I felt really good. The bike was much better in that moto. I was hitting my marks. I know a couple areas where I could probably get him (McNabb), and then in the turn I got him, I didn’t really expect it… I just railed the outside and had a little bit more momentum. It was such a fun race and the track was amazing. This is more my style of track and I had so much fun all day. I felt good from the get-go. I’m incredibly happy. First overall… It took a while to do but I’m happy with it. I loved this track last year too, I got a flat tire and sometimes that’s just how it goes. It’s motocross. It was my fault, so I am extremely happy to get a win here this year.”
Josiah Natzke (1-3): “I made it hard on myself coming from behind and I was too far back to do anything about it. If I want to battle I have to be up there with them. It is what it is man, it’s all on me. I gotta get better starts. It was a good day overall. I’m bummed but it’s nice to get a win. I love Deschambault and I raced there last year and won a moto so I’m actually really looking forward to going back there next weekend. Quebec is a great place, I enjoy it there so I’m looking forward to getting back out there and it’s a good track for me.”
Ryder McNabb (2-2): “I would have liked to win that one (moto two). I got a hole shot and then I just wasn’t feeling good. The rough, super choppy corners and acceleration bumps were just kicking me in the ass the whole time so I just felt super uncomfortable and I just couldn’t charge. It’s whatever. I went 2-2 and I’m still in it for another weekend.”
