After an exciting opening round last weekend in Kamloops, the 2022 Triple Crown Series travelled east for Round 2 in beautiful Drumheller, AB. With completely different track conditions this past weekend as well as a shorter three moto format, the riders had to quickly adapt if they wanted to find success. In the 450 class, Dylan Wright was once again the dominant rider as he won all three motos. In the 250 class, Mitchell Harrison went 1-1-2 for grab his first ever pro national victory. Welcome to Drumheller!Alberta’s Tee Perrott had a good weekend. The Manluk Yamaha rider rode to a consistent 8-9-9 for 8th OA. Jarrod Stock is much like Tyler Medaglia – a very diverse rider. He showed up at round 2 with a full enduro (including tank and kickstand) and rode great. Stock was one of the riders that said he like the hard pack Dorva track. At the end of the day he still had gas in the tank, easiest park job in the pits and 14-14-12 for 13 OA.Chris Blackmer picked up where he left off in Kamloops. He admitted this wasn’t what he was used to racing on but his results were just as impressive going 5-5-6 for 5th OA. Anthony Spadaccini scored a surprising 9th in moto one. Unfortunately he couldn’t replicate those results in the following motos. 9-19-14 landed him 14th overall. After a career best 5th in moto 2 in Kamloops, Cycle North backed Daniel Elmore had big hopes for Round 2. Unfortunately he hit the deck and will be out for a few weeks with an injured shoulder. Elmore may be back in the East -lets hope because he is riding well. PRMX Kawasaki Felix Lopez didn’t start his day off the way he hoped when his bike would not fire on the line for moto 1 leaving him trailing the pack. The PRMX rider improved all day as he get more comfortable. He finished 29-7th-5th for 9th OA. 2022 is a season KTM Redbull Thor rider Jess Pettis may want to put behind him. Injuries have haunted him since the beginning of the year. A fluke crash in moto 1 resulted in an injured arm that will sideline him for a few weeks, if not the season. Weston Wrozyna has been rock solid through the first 5 motos of 2022. He and Chris Blackmer spent lots of time together this weekend. Very few would have predicted WW to be sitting 5th in the series after 2 rounds. Wrozyna ended the day 6-6-8. Tanner Ward look off this weekend. A mid week crash left him searching for comfort all weekend on a choppy track. He brought home a 7-8-7 for 7th OA.Keylon Meston returned to Canadian soil after two weeks on the AMA Pro Motocross tour. Meston was in the thick of things and look good on his home soil. He ended his day 4-4-4 for (you guessed it) 4th OA. Could he fill in for Pettis?One week after separating his shoulder in Kamloops Shawn Maffenbeier return without missing a beat. He charged in moto 1 and 2, and lead moto three. 3-3-2 gave Maff third OA.Tyler Medaglia is in this title hunt. TDags admitted he wasn’t taking chances with the hard soil this weekend and played it smart. Even a conservative Medaglia was good going 2-2-3 for second. It is going to be very tough to stop Dylan Wright in 2022. He is riding at the top of game, the Honda is working well for him and he is very confident. After a dismal opening round Wyatt Kerr rebounded nicely in Drumheller. Kerr ran in the 5-10 spots most of the weekend. He ended 7-9-9 on his day and ninth overall. The 2021 Rick Joseph Award Winner was very good this past weekend and seems to be getting comfortable with the pace of the front pack. 12-11-10 landed him in 11th overall. Dylan Remple put together a strong 5th place in moto one. Moto 2 and 3 saw the 14 year old on the ground in corner two with a lot of work to do in 15 minutes. 5-17-22 does not indicate his speed. Only Chad Goodwin and Dylan’s Mom aren’t surprised at how good the young kawasaki rider has been in the first two rounds. Julien Benek was closer to where he wants to be this past weekend. Benek needs to eliminate the small mistakes and he will be in line for a podium. 11-5-6 for 7th overall on the day.Ryder McNabb never look comfortable in the badlands. Poor starts, short moto’s on hard pack soil did not play to McNabbs strengths. He will be much better in Manitoba. 4-3-4 for fourth overall. This isnt the start Marco Cannella was hoping for in 2022. He has the speed, the fitness and program to be up front but it isnt always easy to bring those pieces together. MC46 has the skills to win but at this point a podium would feel good. 10-6-5 for 6th overall. Local Alberta boy Teren Gerber rode well at Round 2 and finished 10th OA.Sebastien Racine is getting more confident and everyone better watch out. The 16 year has started at the front most motos and pointed out in a post race interview that he wants to keep building on his third place overall. Quinn Amyotte is riding better in 2022, but you can sense he has his eye on the podium. He was consistent and a little fortunate this weekend with a 5-7-7 for 5th overall. Austin Jones scored his first career top 10 this weekend. Jones went 16-10-14 for 12 overall. The two time Fox Bronze Boot winner Jeremy McKie look better this weekend. 8-8-8 for 8th overall. These two are going to be a lot of fun to watch as the 250 series goes on!Mitchell Harrison took his first Canadian Pro win with a 1-1-2Rockstars rock.
