Dino’s and redemption!

After what looked like devastating news for our #1 450 rider Shawn Maffenbeier last weekend in the 2nd moto, the sun came out!   After popping the shoulder back in at the hospital Sunday and a restful week, Shawn rode on Friday before the event and felt pretty strong.  This weekend was the first of the 3-moto sprint format, both classes would race 15 min + 2 laps 3 times.  Round two was presented by Carlson Racing!

450 Recap
Moto 1 –
Both Wrozyna and Maff would round the first corner around the top 5 and goto work on the ½ length sprint moto.. Maff would quickly show that he indeed was up to speed and worked his way into 3rd. Wrozyna showing that he indeed is there for every moto would battle to the end to finish 6th.

Moto 2 – Very similar to Moto 1 – same finishes but Wrozyna logged some of the fastest laps of the moto at the ½ way point to make a charge into the top 5. A last lap stop, stuff and go with GasGas rider Chris Blackmer had the crowd on its feet but Wrozyna would come up a couple feet short and settle for another 6th.

Moto 3 – Maff would explode out of the gate and make quick work of Keylan Meston to take the lead and show that he was indeed ready to ride at the front. A great battle with current red plate holder GDR’s Dylan Wright where the 2 passed back and forth several times before Dylan would make a pass stick and Shawn would settle for a hard-fought 2nd and 3rd overall on the day. What a difference a week makes! Wrozyna would again find himself locked in battles and his 6-6-8 would
be good enough for 6th overall.

When in Dino country – celebrate with the Dinos.

250 Recap
Moto 1 – Corner #2 would signify a long road back in a short time for Cannella… He found
himself on the ground with not much time to make a comeback. As he roared back up through the
pack the best he could muster with 2 last lap passes was to 10th. Jones would round the first
lap in 15 th and would go back and forth all moto in a cluster of riders and eventually cross the line
16th.

Moto 2 – Struggling with starts both riders would round the first lap just outside the top 10. Both riders moved forward the whole moto, Cannella to P6 and Jones to his first top ten finish of his
career.

Moto 3 – Cannella with his best start of the season would round the first corner in 5 th . Still
searching for his mojo this season he would be unable to make ground on the leaders being just
off the pace and would have to settle for 5 th . His 10-6-5 would give him 6 th overall on the day.
Jones would push forward from a tough first lap to 14th giving him 16-10-14 for 12 th on the day.
