Round 2 CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals
Whispering Pines Raceway. Kamloops, BC
MX2 moto one
Things kicked off with a big holeshot from Cycle North Honda’s Brad Nauditt, as he led the MX2 pack for the initial laps. After laying down some great laps, Nauditt just couldn’t hold the pace of Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Austin Politelli and surrounded the lead a few laps in. At around the midpoint, Nauditt would lose one more spot to Red Bull KTM Fox Racing’s Kaven Benoit, who came back from around 10th.
The top 3 positions would remain the same to the checkers, each with a comfortable gap over the other. Kudos to OTSFF Yamaha’s Richard Grey who rode hard all moto, even holding onto a podium position for the early laps. Grey would eventually finish 5th behind Topher Ingalls, who worked his up from a poor start.

MX1 moto one
KTM’s Tyler Medaglia would grab his first holeshot of the season, and early lead in the first MX1 moto. Not long after, Kawasaki’s Metcalfe and Medaglia’s KTM teammate Facciotti rode by and the battle was on! For at least 4 laps, Metcalfe and Facciotti were running within a second of each other, with Colt beginning to show a wheel and apply the pressure. And then, it was all over … Facciotti went down hard over a big single (which is preceeded and followed by a long rolling whoop section) and the red cross flag came out. The early word is that Facciotti’s suffered a broken leg. He was sitting up on the track for a while, catching his breath, before the medics and team personnel moved him to safer quarters. Our best wishes to Colton, his family and the KTM team.
With Facciotti out, Metcalfe ran away with his first moto win in Canada, more than 10 seconds ahead of second place, Tyler Medaglia. Teddy Maier was hanging close to Medaglia before making a mistake and dropping back. Maier would finish 3rd ahead of Morgan Burger.
OTSFF Yamaha’s Bobby Kiniry had a tough moto. The New Yorker had a crap start, charged all the way into the top 10, and then crashed on the last lap. He would still hang for 11th. Kudos to Redemption Racing’s Gavin Gracyk on putting his KTM 450 into 5th place. Also a tough moto for RM Motorsports Yamaha’s Jeremy Medaglia, as he got tangled up on the second lap and broke a bunch of spokes out of his front wheel. The poor fella would then suffer a DNF.
