Kaven Benoit Electrifies Fans at Round 7 in Deschambault

On a day that started out with intermittent rain showers, Royal Distributing Fox KTM riders Kaven Benoit and Cole Thompson both fought hard all day to stay dry and remain consistent in the less than ideal conditions.

In the MX2 class, Benoit came into his home Province race riding a wave of success that has seen him win the previous four MX2 motos in a row. During this string of victories Benoit has been an absolute rocketship off the starting gate on his 2015 KTM 250SX two-stroke machine, and this weekend in Deschambault was no different. In both MX2 motos Kaven grabbed the early lead and never looked back. Lap after lap, he stretched out his lead over the pack, much to the delight of his legion of screaming Quebec fans. With just three rounds remaining in the 2015 MX2 series, Benoit now has a strangle hold on the points lead as he heads to round 8 next weekend in Moncton, NB.

“I was very excited to race today in my home Province and on a track that I love. For me, the goal was simple today. I just wanted to get out front early and stay out of trouble. My KTM was very fast today and it worked great in these tough conditions. Even though I love racing in sandy conditions, it will be nice to get to a harder packed track next weekend for round 8.”

In the MX1 class, so far during the 2015 season, Cole and his KTM 450SX-F have been a great duo when the conditions get very challenging. Thanks to his quick reflexes and the power of his KTM, Cole found himself near the front early in both motos. At times the battle for the lead was very intense and Thompson was right in the middle of the action. On a day where the victory could’ve gone to any of the top four riders, Cole would give it everything he had to finish round 7 with a well-earned (4-3) moto score and 4th overall.

“I felt good today and my bike was working great, but I just didn’t have the speed to pull off the win. The speed at the front was very fast today and it was a lot of fun to battle with those guys. All I can do is go home this week and keep working hard to get ready for Moncton. I like the Riverglade track soil; it is very much like my home practice track so I’m really looking forward to round 8.”

With 7 rounds of the CMRC Pro Nationals now complete, the 2015 series packs up and travels East to beautiful Moncton, NB. Both series are still up for grabs so you can bet that Kaven Benoit and Cole Thompson will be doing their best to put KTM up front.
