Fox Racing Presents Isolation Inquiries: Brenner Lammens

During these unprecedented times of self-isolation and social distancing, all of our kids are now forced to remain at home during the week as their school year has been postponed or cancelled completely. Also, with no racing until May at the earliest, our motocross kids are now sitting in limbo waiting for their next competition. To get an idea of what some of our talented kids are doing during this lock down, we will be reaching out to a few of them over the next couple of weeks. Next up is Ontario 85cc rider Brenner Lammens.

MXP: Hey Brenner, how are you? It feels like we’ve been in self-isolation for six months already. What has your routine been like?

It does feel like forever, that’s for sure. My days have been pretty much the same, actually. After I wake up and eat breakfast, my family and I have a workout and then I go down to my basement and shoot pucks for an hour. My friend Maddox (he plays for Kingston in the OHL) comes over and we work on our shots and do a few other hockey related workouts. After that we put our gear on and go ride on my backyard track. Then we eat a late lunch and it’s time for school work. That has been my schedule for the past few weeks. The only change might be that sometimes I do my schoolwork in the morning to get it over with.

MXP: Let’s assume you’re missing school at least a little. Every kid misses school, right? What do you miss most about going to school?

I mostly miss my friends. I actually don’t miss school that much. I’ve been begging my parents to homeschool forever so I’m good with not going back. But I REALLY REALLY miss hockey!

MXP: You mentioned that you’ve been able to keep training. What type of training have you been doing?

We’ve been riding at my house and shooting pucks, and then we go on long bicycle rides with whomever is going from our house. Most of the time Maddox and I do some sort of dry-land training, but also my entire family will get outside and do something. Basically, we’ve just been staying active and trying to have some fun.

MXP: What do you miss most about being at the motocross track?

I mostly miss being able to meet up with my friends to ride. I miss my home track, Gopher Dunes, and I hope it will open back up soon. I like the sand. I like doing laps there; it gets you in shape fast. I just miss being able to ride at different tracks and see people.

MXP: In the past I’ve been asking a math question to wrap these interviews up, but since you’re a die-hard hockey kid I will ask you a hockey trivia question instead. What year did the Toronto Maple Leafs last win the Stanley Cup? And you can’t ask your dad!

I know it’s been a very long time. I’m going to guess say 1967!
