Fox Racing Canada Presents Behind The Lens From Round 5 At Sand Del Lee

Heading into Round 5 of the 2023 Triple Crown Series at Sand Del Lee, everyone was excited, and it’s one of the most popular tracks on the circuit. Not only is the SDL facility close to our Nation’s Capitol, but with the solid layout and loamy sand soil, it gives the riders and teams a little bit of everything during the race weekend. As always, the racing this past weekend was entertaining, with battles all over the track. Up front in both classes, we saw multiple lead changes and the top riders really going for it. Although the day began wet and sloppy, the sun came out at noon, and the track turned out incredible for the motos. In the end, Ryder McNabb and Dylan Wright were once again victorious in their respective classes, and now we move on to Round 6 at Riverglade Raceway. However, before we turn the page from Round 5, let’s look at a collection of excellent photos from James Lissimore.

It took some work by the SDL track crew but by lunch time the track was in race shape!

Before the riders hit the track some of the water had to be drained.

It was great to see Quinn Amyotte back at Round 5. He had a solid day in the 250 class.

Unfortunately, Kaven Benoit had a bad day at SDL and left Round 5 a sore man.

Rookie Pro rider Blake Davies has been riding well of late but at SDL he struggled with his starts.

There was a lot of excitement surrounding Jimmy D’s return to Canada. However, his bike didn’t last the opening moto and he didn’t come back out for moto two.

Daniel Elmore has been improving since the opening round and at Round 5 he finally reached his goal of getting on the 450 class podium.

Danny Elmore and his team were all smiles at the podium!

Despite the wet weather in the morning, a good amount of fans turned out for the Pro motos.

Sam Gaynor once again rode the Pre-Mix class as well as the 250 class. He won the Pre-Mix class and had his best day so far in the 250 class.

Tyler Gibbs rode well at Round 5 and had one of his best results of the series.

Mitchell Harrison came into SDL looking for redemption after a tough weekend at Round 4. In moto two he had his best race of the series as he held off McNabb for the win.

Austin Jones just keeps getting better with each race in the 250 class.

Kinger stands in the mud and gets ready to turn the board sideways.

For this year the SDL track crew made a few changes that every rider seem to love.

Even though he’s not dominating every moto, Ryder McNabb continues to find ways to win the OA and hold on to the 250 class points lead.

After a tough weekend at Gopher Dunes, Tyler Medaglia was better at Round 5 and we expect him to be real good at Riverglade.

Josiah Natzke had another solid weekend at SDL and still sits within striking distance of the 250 class points lead.

With the speed gap between these two shrinking these final six motos are going to be real good.

Jess Pettis rode well on the weekend and lead both 450 motos for some time. This race certainly gave JP15 some much needed confidence heading into Round 6.

The hometown MX101 Blu Cru had some bad luck in the opening 250 moto but came out swinging in moto two.

Dylan Rempel had another quiet but solid day in the 250 class. This kid works hard and keeps improving with each race.

Jess Pettis grabbed both holeshots in the 450 class and almost won the opening moto.

Lars Van Berkel was back for Round 5 and of course he was happy to be once again racing in the sand.

Racing on his former home track Noah Viney had a rough day at SDL.

Tanner Ward was riding well at SDL, unfortunately he ran into some bike issues in the demanding conditions.

It certainly wasn’t picture perfect but Dylan Wright still got the job done in the 450 class.

Winning isn’t easy, especially when it’s in front of your friends and family.

See you all on the East Coast!
