Florida Mini O’s: Day 4

The Great Outdoors

Brought to you by Yamaha Motor Canada

Supercross is behind us and it’s nothing but blue groove, dust, and nipple ripping roost. The outdoors is why we all started, or should I say where we all started riding our dirt bikes. The outdoors is where all our motocross stories begin. The 2012 Florida Mini Olympics outdoors started today and what a long day it was. Just under 2200 entries for motocross alone, so it’s a jammed packed schedule to have everything done for Saturday evening. This isn’t there first rodeo here at Gatorback so I’m not to worried about the schedule. It was pretty good to watch these kids race hard on the outdoor track. Tomorrow is another full day of racing starting at 8am with my plus 25 moto. Hope you enjoy these pics from Day one of the outdoors.

I can’t get enough of this kid. Cooper Webb impresses me more and more every time I see him ride. He took both A races today with ease.

The outdoors brings a lot more intensity to the track. Look at these kids in the B class. Throttles taped wide open, fighting for every inch of track.

I remember back in 1993 a shot from this very spot of Eric Kehoe leaping over Jeremy Mcgrath for a 125 moto win. It was awesome. This shot is not that awesome, but I had to take one from that very spot.

Trevor Gervais was looking good at the start of the moto. He had a crash late, which will force him to have to go to the LCQ in 250 C stock class.

What up Rasta!!! Imagine the dirt in those locks after a moto. GROSS!!!!

Damn my spider/rider sense. I can just see when a crash is about to go down as you can see from these last two pics.

Canuck Adam Burk is also in the 250 C Stock class. He’ll be another Canadian giving it his all in the LCQ along with Gervais and Lakie

It’s crazy to see how many side x side, utility, ATV, scooters, golf carts or mini bikes here for pit vehicles. I’m not sure why we don’t allow this at Walton Trans Can, but I’m thinking 2013 is the year they let it happen. If they don’t have problems here with twice as many, I’m sure we’ll be fine.

Its a long day, everyday for a flagger.

Canadian Cole Thompson stopped in to see all his US amateur friends. He is really excited to get the East coast SX started. He has some better motors as well as suspension this year. Oh, and he’ll be riding a Honda during SX. Interesting

Former Canadian team Manger Dave Gowland, and current Rockstar Suzuki team manger, relaxing under the warm Florida sun.

The 50 kids await the start of their race.

Sometimes I wish I was a guy that punched first and asked questions later. This Dad pulled his kid off after the first lap of the 50 race cause the kid crashed in the first turn. He then screamed at him right in front of me for no apparent reason. Sometimes parents ruin this amazing sport for their kids. This douche is one of them.

Jacob Kolman is another Canadian down here getting some great experience. He will have to go to the LCQ in 51cc 7-8.

“I’d like to thankBud light, my kids for spending all my money, the big can of fade I drank before my Plus 40 moto, and Gauldy for drinking all the jerk.” LOL

Thomas Rendall was in a qualifying spot until the last lap of his 51cc 7-8 qualy. He will also have to take his chances in the LCQ for a chance to make the main event.

Tanner Scott nearly holeshot his 51 cc 4-6 qualifier. He would ride solid and cross the line in 5tyh putting him right into the main event.

This place is 0 fun late in the day. Hahaha But hey, that’s the great outdoors.
