Three Questions With Andre Laurin

As we enter the month of September, it is the beginning of Pro racing’s off-season for Canadian motocross. Obviously, with the start of the 2015 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals eight months away, teams aren’t exactly in a rush to get their line-up solidified. In the next few weeks we’re going to talk to some of the different teams to get their thoughts on this past summer as well as what next summer might hold. Following are three topics we covered with Rockstar Energy Drink OTSFF Yamaha Team Owner, Andre Laurin.

Canadian race fans will definitely get to see the Rockstar Energy Drink OTSFF Yamaha back again in 2015.

On racing in 2015:

“I’m not sure where that rumour got started but trust me it’s just poor reporting. This team is going racing next year and beyond without a doubt. We were happy with how things went this summer and we want to build on that for next year. Rockstar Energy Drink is happy with our team, and I thought as the title sponsor of the series now, things went really well for them this summer. The series is strong and the competition is strong, why wouldn’t we want to be a part of that?”

On who might be on the team in 2015:

“I’d love to have everyone back but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. I thought all of our athletes competed extremely hard this summer. Although we came up short of a championship, we were still on top of the podium a few times.”

On the team’s best moment of the series:

“Well, it had to be at Ulverton when both Shawn Maffenbeier and Kyle Chisholm both won overalls. The Rockstar Energy Drink OTSFF Yamaha Team has never won both overalls on the same day so it was a big moment for us. Also, Regina was big for us with Bobby Kiniry winning in the mud. Bobby is such a class act; he’s really cemented himself in Canada. He worked so hard all year and for him to get that win was great.”

One of Andre’s favourite moments of this past summer was when Bobby Kiniry took home a very popular win at muddy Regina.
