So far the 2013 Parts Canada TransCan has a lot of action both on an off the track. On the track are battles in every moto for many different positions, and off the track there has been fun events like the Strider races, Walton has talent, the slip and slide and of course everyone’s favourite, Walton Bingo. Also as I found out tonight, there are a ton of private parties taking place all over the pits. To walk through the pits in the early evening is so awesome, people are sitting around telling stories about what they saw that day, and sometimes you can even hear old TransCan stories being told.
Tonight was one of those nights for me as Dave Cox and Family cooked up a huge dinner for about 15 people, it was amazing, thanks Cox Family. Just as we were about to eat, Hemoflo guru Craig Stevenson came around on his newly restored Maico 250. This bike is incredible and one by one a few guys took it for a ride, once it got cleaned out it didn’t sound much different than Dylan Wrights YZ250. Pretty awesome stuff, and only the stuff you find after hours at TransCan.
Speaking of Dylan Wright, this kid has been one of the most impressive at this years TransCan. Not only is he hauling the mail on the track, but off the track he has been great with all the kids that look up to him so much. In this day an age it’s so refreshing to see this maturity and class in a kid his age, but this is what motocross is all about. Yes it makes kids grow up fast and yes some lose their way, but in most cases the kid learned responsibility at an early age and they’re eager to pass on what they’ve learned to the next generation. This is also why an event like the Parts Canada TransCan is so important for our sport, it brings everyone together in search of common goals, and with the exception of a few bad apples, it brings out the best in everyone.
That is it for me tonight, it’s late and I did three hard motos today so yes it’s bed time. For a complete list of results from today, please go to www.waltontranscan.ca and you can see everything, even your favourite riders lap times. This year the staff at Walton has installed a huge television in the infield so fans can follow along with the live timing, I can’t tell you how awesome it is to stand there and just glance over and know what exactly is going on. On Friday we will crown our first champion of 2013, and then there is the huge Tim Hicks concert at 7pm. Its going to be a great day at Walton Raceway.
