Walton – The big show is here!

CMRC Racing News

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Stouffville, ON –August 11, 2010)

Walton – The big show is here!

The Monster Energy Motocross Nationals will see the end of the 2010 season in the usually subdued Southwestern Ontario town of Walton this Sunday. But the entire week, known as the Walton TransCan Grand National, is anything but subdued. Hundreds of amateurs kick off the event with opening ceremonies on Tuesday evening, to be followed by four days of racing which culminates with the final round of the Pro Nationals on Sunday.

With an annual pilgrimage of more than 900 competitors, and spectator turnout that have been estimated up to 20,000, the Walton TransCan Grand National has, without a doubt, earned the right to be called Canada’s “Motocross Classic”. Not surprisingly, Walton is a magnet for hundreds of riders from across Canada and the United States. Riders from Europe, South Africa as well as Mexico have graced the track.

Since its inauguration in 1992, Walton has been the crown jewel and final round of the Canadian National Motocross Championship. A number of years ago promoter Chris Lee coined the event a “four-day celebration of Canadian motocross” and it is exactly that…and more! Over the years, the Lee family has pulled out all the stops to make their event the premiere motocross showdown of the season.

Although Walton has become synonymous with motocross – due to the enormous popularity of the TransCan Grand National – the facility boasts an impressive decades-old history that has played host to some of Canada’s biggest motocross events. Many of yesteryear’s and today’s top guns have earned “bragging rights” by winning at least one or more Walton.

For the thousands of race fans who come to take in the action, their day ends with seeing the new Canadian MX1 and MX2 Champion officially receive their No.1 plate. Although in many cases the title recipients have already been decided, racing battles of epic proportions are still the order of the day. Even if you’ve already cemented the title, like Dusty Klatt has in MX1, you still give it your all. Winning Walton is the Canadian motocross equivalent of winning Indianapolis or Daytona!

Although the MX1 title hunt has ended for Yamaha/Red Bull/Blackfoot/Fox Racing’s Klatt – he has a 64 points lead that cannot be bridged – the remaining top-five to-10 candidates will be on the gas to improve or solidify their final rankings.

Royal Distributing KTM’s Kornel Nemeth, Rockstar Energy/OTSFF Racing/Two Wheel Suzuki’s Bobby Kiniry and Machine Racing Honda’s Kyle Keast have the most at stake. Not only will they want to beat the new champ Klatt, mathematically they are in a position to finish the season as runner-up. Fifteen points separate third place Kiniry from second place Nemeth; one point separates Kiniry from Keast in fourth.

For Redemption Racing Kawasaki’s Mason Phillips, currently holding down fifth in the rankings, it will be a matter of defending that position as he has only a minimal chance of improving on it. Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki’s Troy Adams trails Phillips by a mere eight points. Josh Demuth is in the game trailing his teammate, Adams, by two points. Kiniry’s teammate, Freddy Karrle, trails Demuth by 16 points. Anything is possible!

In the MX2 title hunt, Yamaha/Red Bull/Blackfoot/Fox Racing’s Tyler Medaglia commands a solid 20 points lead over defending champion, Monster Energy/Leading Edge Kawasaki’s Teddy Maier. If he delivers an error-free ride that keeps him on two wheels, and doesn’t fall victim to a DNF, Medaglia is a shoo-in for the crown. If that is the case, this means that Maier will finish runner-up, as he enjoys a 40 points gap on Orange Motorsports KTM’s Jeremy Medaglia.

Adding interest to the equation is the fact that Duroy Racing KTM’s Kaven Benoit trails Medaglia by just 13 points in fourth place. Both up-and-comers have enjoyed a breakthrough season and it’s guaranteed they will be on the track to take no prisoners.

Blackfoot Direct Yamaha’s Jared Allison, who has also raised a few eyebrows this year, holds down fifth place in the current rankings and it looks like that’s where he’ll finish the season. He is too far behind Benoit for a realistic shot at the No.4 plate and far enough ahead of his teammate and brother, Parker Allison, to be threatened for a top-five end result.

Included on Sunday’s schedule is the Women’s Nationals presented by Honda East-West Shootout to determine who will be the overall national champion.

KTM CANADA WEEKLY RACE REPORT

For immediate release

Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM Canada wins in Sand Del Lee!!!

CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals, Round 8 – Sand Del Lee, ON, August 8th, 2010
Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM Canada’s Kornel Nemeth wins round 8 of the CMRC Motocross
Series. After a some bad luck in the beginning of the season, Kornel is showing everyone what he is truly capable of
scoring 2-1 motos this past weekend at the Sand Del Lee track for his first National overall motocross win on
Canadian soil. The Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM rider put on an incredible show on his KTM 450 SXF
in front of the enthusiastic crowd just outside of Ottawa passing his competitors and persevering through a rainy
second moto to eventually cross the finish line in first place. The Dunlop backed rider thanked everyone and was
extremely happy to finally get the overdue result elevating him into 2nd place in the MX1 Championship hunt.
Kornel wasn’t the only Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM rider to finish on the podium this weekend.
Ladies pro class racer Kate McKerroll raced her Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM 150 SX to a well
deserved 3rd place overall. It has been a very close series with different moto winners and Kate’s consistency proved
valuable and she finished the 3 round series in 3rd overall and now looks to Walton this week for more fun and
success.

Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM’s Kyle McGlynn was the solo MX2 rider this weekend and he didn’t
disappoint with top 10 starts and his hard charging never give up attitude saw Kyle finish inside the top 10 in 8th place.
In the MX1 Class, Miami, Manitoba’s Ryan Millar is putting on a charge as the season winds down scoring enough
points at Sand Del Lee for a top 10 place overall. Millar will be looking to back up that result with another great ride on
his Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels 450 SX-F next weekend.

KTM PRESS

Team Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM had a new face under the tent this weekend. Former two time
MX2 Champion Michael Willard was there to greet his Canadian friends and fans and try out the all new KTM350
SX-F 2011. Willard who has always been a fan favorite had a great race even after a first turn crash that saw him
charge from the back of the pack to the top 10 in the MX1 Class. The original #749 proved he was still a force to be
reckoned with as he piloted the 350 SX-F to 9th place by the end of the day.

At the end of the day all the Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM had 4 riders in the top 10 in the MX1 Class
and 4 podium appearances for the day. Next week is the culmination of the 2010 motocross series and it has come
and gone quickly, but team Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM is looking forward to moving even higher in
the championship standings.

A very special thanks to all of the Royal Distributing Thor Dragon Fuels KTM team sponsors. Without their support
we wouldn't be able to go racing.

competitive MX2 class scoring a 3rd in moto 2 and enough points for 4th Overall. The #17 of Medaglia is currently in 3rd
place in the MX2 Championship with one round to go. Duroy Racing, Motosport 4 Saisons KTM rider Kaven
Benoit found the podium again this weekend. Benoit scored a third overall for the day on the strength of his 4-3 moto
scores.

In the MX1 class Washington State rider Kevin Urquhart was on the KTM 450 SX-F for only the 2nd weekend,
Urquhart scored two top 10 motos including his best ever 5th place in Moto 2 for 7th overall.
FMSQ Series – Rockland, QC, August 8th, 2010

After a few weeks break the FMSQ Series got back underway in Rockland last weekend. Duroy Racing, KTM
Canada, LRP, Monster Energy’s Jason Thomas finished the race in 1st position with his KTM 250 XC. Francis
Ouimette completed his best race of the season. He rode behind Thomas for the majority of the race until the last
minute, when he fell down while trying to pass a lapped rider. Francis quickly got back up and was able to finish in 3rd
position with his 250 XC-F. Duroy Racing’s Jérémy Daudelin and Michel Metcalfe finished respectively in 5th and
6th position

Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Sand Del Lee Race Report Teddy Maier finishes second at penultimate round at Richmond, Ontario

Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Sand Del Lee Race Report

Teddy Maier finishes second at penultimate round at Richmond, Ontario

Kamloops, B.C.(Aug 9, 2010) Things are coming down to the wire in the 2010 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals as the series made it's next to last appearance, near the Nation's capital as the series rolled into Richmond, Ontario's Sand Del Lee MX. The Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki team came into the race with defending champion, Teddy Maier, looking to try and close the gap on current points leader, Tyler Medaglia.

The two riders who have established themselves as the clearcut favorites for the MX2 Championship quickly proved why they have been the class of the field all season long as they waged an epic all out battle in both motos with Medaglia leading and Maier trying everything he could to make the pass. In the end he would finish second in both motos for a hard fought second overall. Said Maier after the race, “My hat is off to Tyler. I gave it everything I had both motos and my bike was working awesome but I just couldn't quite make the pass. We've still got one race left and I'm not giving up yet. I'm going to give it everything I've got and see where the cards fall.”

Team manager, Pat O'Connor, was proud of how his rider's day went: “I think the weekend went really well. Teddy did not win, but he rode awesome and had a great race with Tyler, maybe the best racing I have seen all year from either class. These two guys were not more than a couple seconds apart all weekend. Congrats to both of them for putting on a great race for the fans.”

After missing the previous two rounds with a foot injury, Shawn Rife was back in action this weekend. The four-time moto winner was on pace with the lead pair of Medaglia and Maier early in moto one but he caught his foot in a rut and was forced to abandon the race. He's going to try and heal up and finish the series off next weekend with another win. Another victim of injuries was Spencer Knowles who despite crashing earlier in the week attempted to race but his hand proved too injured to hang on and he was forced to retire for the weekend.

The team now heads to the series finale next weekend at the Walton Trans Can in Walton, Ontario. For more information on the Monster Energy CMRC Canadian Motocross series check out the CMRC website at www.cmrcracing.com
