2011 National top 100#'s

Dylan Langlois sent MXP this. Thanks Dylan. Here is the list of top 100 numbers for 2011. Unofficial right now, but pretty sure this is totally correct.

Hey dude,

I was bored this morning and decided to make a spreadsheet to figure out the 2011 national numbers. Pretty sure it's all right - top 10 MX1 are #1-10, skipped 13 and accounted for any riders who scored points in both MX1 and MX2.
Stat: there were 117 riders who scored a National point in 2010. The only thing I didn't figure out is where there are ties for points like number 99, I was too lazy to check who got the point first. Pretty sure the MX1 riders with 4 points get #97-99 over the MX2 riders with 4 points tho...
Enjoy, hopefully you can use this on the site or something.

Bobby Kiniry ‘King of Walton’ – Rife grabs MX2 overall

CMRC Racing News

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Stouffville, ON – August 15, 2010)

Bobby Kiniry ‘King of Walton’ – Rife grabs MX2 overall

The final round of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals in Walton, Ontario, on Sunday, saw Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Troy Lee Designs/Two Wheel Suzuki’s Bobby Kiniry record the MX1 overall on the strength of 1-2 motos.

It was the American’s first nationals overall win on Canadian soil. His win also entitled him to receive the ‘King of Walton’ title and the sword that goes along with it, for one year.

Yamaha/Red Bull/Blackfoot/Fox Racing’s Dusty Klatt, who already wrapped up the title at the penultimate round, finished second overall on the day, thanks to 3-1 motos.

In MX2 action, outgoing champion Teddy Maier had to bow to incoming champ Tyler Medaglia in the first moto, which was hot and nasty. In the second moto, Maier was led to the checkered flag by his Monster Energy/Leading Edge Kawasaki teammate Shawn Rife. Again the racing was fast and furious!

Rife, who finished third in the first moto, claimed the overall while Maier’s 2-2 finishes gave him second overall. Third overall went to Yamaha/Red Bull/Blackfoot/Fox Racing’s Tyler Medaglia on the strength of 1-5 motos. Medaglia rode a calculated second moto to ensure he finished on two wheels and in the championship points.

In the first MX1 moto, Bobby Kiniry nailed down the holeshot ahead of Royal Distributing KTM’s Kornel Nemeth; Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki’s Josh Demuth; Black River Motorsports Yamaha’s Shane Sewell and Redemption Racing Kawasaki’s Mason Phillips.

In what would be a nail-biter moto, Kiniry managed to not only hold of Nemeth but also fend off every passing manoeuvre Yamaha/Red Bull/Blackfoot/Fox Racing’s Dusty Klatt could throw at him. Two of Klatt’s moves saw him make contact with Kiniry and crash both times as a result.

Klatt, who got a mid-pack start in the first moto, had sliced and diced his way into fifth place by the midway point. He then charged his way into second place to challenge Kiniry for the lead.

After tangling with Kiniry and crashing the first time, Klatt remounted in sixth and again battled his way to the front to challenge for the lead. Again Klatt went down allowing Kiniry to comfortably take the win.

Klatt would have to take satisfaction with third place behind Nemeth. Demuth and Rock River Yamaha’s Travis Sewell sealed the top-five.

Kiniry pegged the second moto holeshot ahead of Demuth, Rock River Yamaha’s Travis Sewell, Klatt, Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Troy Lee Designs/Two Wheel Suzuki’s Freddy Karrle, and Nemeth.

Some five laps into the moto, Klatt, a little less hurried this time, put a definitive pass on Kiniry. Once he accomplished that, Klatt checked out leaving Kiniry to fend off Demuth, then Sewell, who got by him just past the halfway point.

Kiniry, looking to end the day with the overall, repassed Sewell on the same lap and the top three finishers were decided from that point on. Kiniry’s noteworthy 1-2 motos not only gave him the overall, they assured that he kept his No.3 ranking intact for another year.

Rain started coming down during the last moto of the day, and of the season, which coupled with high winds, added another element to the fast and demanding Walton track. Some areas became really slick, but the key players stayed in the game and on two wheels.

In addition to recording second overall on the day, Klatt was officially crowned 2010 MX1 Champion while the Hungarian Nemeth recorded third overall on the strength of 2-4 motos. Nemeth, in his first full season of the Canadian Nationals, finished an impressive runner-up in the series.

Orange Motorsports KTM’s Richard Grey snared the first MX2 holeshot ahead of Shawn Rife, Tyler Medaglia, Blackfoot Direct Yamaha’s Jarred Allison, and Monster Energy/Leading Edge Kawasaki’s Teddy Maier.

It didn’t take too long for Rife and Medaglia to stick a pass on up-and-comer Grey, to then battle for the lead position, which went to Rife. Not wanting to disconnect with the front-runners, defending champ Maier blitzed by Allison to take up fourth.

A bobble by Rife, which saw him remount in fifth, left the door open for Medaglia to take the lead. Medaglia never looked back, settled into a comfortable pace and took it all the way to the checkered.

Maier, who inherited third, then put some pressure on Grey, who had moved into second after Rife’s bobble. Once in second place, Maier set out after Medaglia, who had pulled a bit of a gap.

Although they wound up neck-and-neck for a few laps, Maier was unable to get by Medaglia in a thriller race that saw Medaglia convincingly win the moto.

Rife, meanwhile, was able to work his way into third by the time the checkered flag was waved with Allison and Orange Motorsport KTM’s Jeremy Medaglia cementing the top-five.

Tyler Medaglia nailed down the second MX2 moto holeshot followed by his Blackfoot Racing teammate Kyle Beaton, Duroy Racing KTM’s Kaven Benoit and the Leading Edge duo Maier and Rife.

Medaglia led for about half the race and then started easing off the pace to settle for fifth at the finish line, which was more than enough to clinch the 2010 MX2 Championship and third overall on the day.

Once Medaglia back-paddled from the lead it was taken over by Maier, who then lost it to a hard-charging Rife. Although Maier did everything he could to retake the lead, he had to settle for second place at the checkered.

Beaton, who drifted as far back as fifth at one point, pulled out all the stops to end up finishing in third, which gave him sixth overall on the day, thanks to a 10th place finish in moto one.

While Duroy Racing KTM’s Kaven Benoit disappeared out of the top-five to finish eighth his rival for third in the championship, Jeremy Medaglia, worked his way into a fourth place finish. On the strength of 5-4 motos, Medaglia recorded fourth overall on the day and cemented third in the championship.
